- Fewer comments:
- Fewer unnecessary or unhelpful comments
- Better address completion instead of adding a comment
- Better website name generation instead of adding a comment
- Accessed dates:
- Merops now generates today’s date, with a comment asking for confirmation
- New editorial rule: URL accessed date in figures or full
- New editorial rule: URL accessed date all-figure date sequence
- New URL accessed date sequence (full): 2026, March 17th
- Other new editorial rules:
- Use 'ibid.' in footnotes: no | preserve original
- Ensure only one reference per ID in numbered references
- Footnotes/endnotes:
- Better conversions from notes to reference lists, particularly within prose

Other
- Give organism name in full at first mention rule now works with names unknown to Merops
